Urban Sketchers are an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to fostering a global community of artists who practice on-location drawing.
Urban Sketchers Cambridge is one of 220 chapters worldwide. We are a group of enthusiastic artists who just love to draw on location. We meet once a month to draw in various parts of Cambridge such as the iconic colleges and museums, as well as events such as the Mill Road Christmas Parade and Bridge The Gap.
We sketch in the spirit of this manifesto:
1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. We support each other and draw together.
7. We share our drawings online.
8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
We celebrate our 3rd anniversary with this exhibition in Novi featuring a variety of sketches by different artists in different exciting styles and mediums such as ink and wash, iPad Pro, felt and watercolour.
